Position: Trainee Tax Consultant
Summary of Job Description
Reporting to the Tax & Advisory Services Manager, the Trainee is expected to be able to learn fast in order to be able to prepare accurate and complete tax computations for various clients. The trainee is expected to have good communication skills and be presentable for the purposes of communicating (internally/ externally) and representing clients with third parties like ZIMRA, NSSA, NEC etc.
Detailed Roles and responsibilities
The Trainee Tax Consultant is responsible for:
- Attending to ZIMRA cases such as tax audits, account maintenance, investigations, queries, E-service and letters of final demands.
- Registrations with statutory bodies such NSSA, NEC, ZIMDEF, ZIMRA
- Bank account opening for clients
- Research, analysing and interpreting changing tax legislation in Zimbabwe so as to create tax strategies for clients and planning their tax issues.
- Writing tax bulletins for staff and clients’ consumption
- Preparation of various tax computations and returns and making sure that the returns are filed correctly and on time
- Maintenance of complete tax files, proper filing
- Providing tax guidance and advising on how to minimize tax liabilities
- Performing tax health checks/ tax audits for various clients
- Representing clients with statutory authorities such as NSSA, ZIMRA
- Conducting presentations on particular areas of business
- Carrying out other duties as assigned by the superior
Qualifications and Skills
Skills and Attributes
- The trainee should have an understanding of basic tax principles
- Strong verbal and written Communication Skills
- Good Interpersonal Skills.
Qualifications
- Part ICTA or part ACCA (should have written the first Tax paper)
- Working experience is an added advantage
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Office suite,
